Surface TexturingSurface texturing allows you to create subtle 3 dimensional effects on your work. Step 1Apply a very heavy flowing coat as we will 'engrave' some of the coat away in step 3. Step 2Allow the piece to be completely dry Step 3Using a sharp object like a needle tool, paint brush top or bent paper clip draw designs into the dry underglaze on the piece. Any sort of pattern will do. Step 4Apply another color of underglaze over the piece, using a little water in the underglaze. Step 5Immediately use a clean wet brush or sponge to remove the excess underglaze, allowing the remaining underglaze to go into the pattern you scratched into the base coat in step 3. Step 6You can repeat step 4 and 5 with different colors on different parts of your piece. Likewise, you can repeat steps 2 through 5 as you desire. VideoView a video of using surface texturing.
